A company helping to lead the electric vehicle revolution has relocated its Global Technical Centre to a new facility at Silverstone Park.
Saietta Group Plc has taken a newly-built 22,000 sq ft hi-tech engineering facility within the Buckinghamshire Enterprise Zone at Silverstone Park, moving its electric drivetrain design, engineering, and development activities under one roof from its previous base at Upper Heyford, Oxfordshire.
The move will enable the fast-growing business to create a further 12 highly-skilled jobs on top of its existing 66-strong workforce, with the Silverstone Global Technical Centre at the heart of its UK operations.
Saietta designs, engineers and manufactures complete electric drivetrain (eDrive) systems for electric vehicles, from scooters and motorcycles up to buses and trucks. Every component is tailored to meet each client’s needs and requirements, ensuring a production-ready solution which will provide a competitive advantage.
David Pates, Director of Operations at Silverstone, said: “The business has been evolving at an incredible pace with major investment and rapid growth. Our new Silverstone Global Technical Centre is a state-of-the-art research and development facility which houses all our design, engineering, prototype build, and test rig operations.”
Saietta’s Global Manufacturing Centre of Excellence is in Sunderland: as well as high-volume production capability, it also has a pilot-build facility to validate the manufacturing processes developed at Silverstone.
The Company also has a production facility in Delhi, India where it will produce its state-of-the art Axial Flux Technology (AFT) electric motors through Saietta VNA, a joint-venture partnership with Padmini VNA.
The AFT is now in production in Sunderland while a new, smaller Radial Flux Technology (RFT) motor is also generating interest from manufacturers of electric scooters and three-wheelers such as Rickshaws – vehicles which are extremely popular throughout Asia.
David Pates added: “Saietta specialises in innovative, high torque, power-dense, and energy-efficient eDrive technology, which we develop for vehicle manufacturers worldwide. We will be expanding our product range over the next 18 months which will drive our growth over the next five years. As a leading eDrivetrain business, we hope to be a showcase for the value of precision engineering and production excellence in the UK, as we help the world transition from combustion engines to zero emission mobility.”
Ian Barham, Partnership Director of the Buckinghamshire Local Enterprise Partnership, said: “It is fantastic to see further innovative growth in Silverstone with the relocation and growth of this pioneering business into Buckinghamshire for the development of its new R&D hub which is fuelling further growth across the UK and globally.
“Saietta is a great example of a business which is developing new products to tackle the climate crisis head on while simultaneously driving new innovation within the Buckinghamshire economy. The cutting-edge work Saietta is doing in speeding up the transition to electric propulsion for all forms of mobility will help to clean up the air in mega-cities around the globe.”
Significantly, Saietta are already working with its Silverstone Technology Cluster neighbours including Lunaz, Applus 3C Test and Hexagon.
